Here is some vital news about amended plans which have been put in for the Shirley Golf Club.
The amended plans have been submitted by agents acting for Shirley Golf Club. The details can be found on the Council website - Application Number 2013/1126. The new plans show the main entrance to the golf club remaining in Stratford Road, not Creynolds Lane. The new road, from Creynolds Lane, is intended solely for access to the proposed housing development. All other aspects of the planning application remain.
Your Conservative Ward Action Team has been at the forefront in campaigning against the application and will remain so.
Yes, one of the reasons for objection has disappeared, but there are still serious road safety concerns and the proposed development is within the Green Belt. The applicants will have to convince the Planning Committee that 'Special Reasons' are satisfied to enable development on the Green Belt.
Councillor Ken Hawkins, who presented a petition of 200 names opposed to the development, to Solihull Council last autumn, will address the Planning Committee urging them to reject the application. The committee is expected to hear the application at its meeting on 12 March. Although Cllr Hawkins is Vice-Chair of the Planning Committee, he has declared pre-determination (prior to joining the committee) and will not be able to vote on the application - he will address the committee though.
Previous objections will remain valid, but if you wish you can still make representations by email, via the Council website or to Solihull Planning Department, Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council, The Council House, Solihull, B91 3QB. If you wish to be updated immediately there is more news please email Ken on [email protected] and ask to be put on his distribution list, as many residents already have.
