Julian Knight, Conservative Parliamentary Candidate for Solihull and local campaigner, teamed up with TV Apprentice star, Karren Brady to pound the streets of Solihull to mark small business Saturday.
The pair visited local shops and businesses in Knowle and then Julian was joined by Silhill Councillor, Robert Hulland, on Dovehouse Parade to mark the nationwide campaign day for small businesses.
Julian and Karren chatted with shopkeepers, customers and even did a little shopping of their own to show their support for Solihull's small business community. This follows hot on the heels of Julian and Karren's visit to the new Parkgate development in Shirley last week, where they saw at first hand the regeneration that the new shopping and residential complex will bring.
Julian Knight, who lives in Olton said "Small Business Saturday has worked brilliantly in the United States, raising awareness of local enterprise and I am delighted we have adopted it here in Solihull."
"We are very lucky in Solihull in having so many small businesses and independent retailers. But we can't be complacent, if we want our high streets to remain so diverse we need to get out there and support local small business. It is these businesses which will spearhead our economic recovery and we have to get behind them. What's more, the service that your local small business can offer can often be second to none. Let’s keep shopping locally."
