Your local Councillors would like to inform you about a proposed 20MPH speed limit for Buryfield Road and the adjacent streets.
The Cabinet Member, at his September meeting, agreed to extend the 20mph speed limit to cover the entire length of Buryfield Road and the adjoining streets. The consultation was positive, with 65.5% in favour, compared to 34.5% being undecided or against lowering the speed limit. The scheme includes retention of the 20 carriageway roundels and several “SLOW” markings.
The proposal will now be formally advertised and you will see copies of the public notice, providing a 21 day period in which to submit representation either in favour or against. The results at this stage will help determine whether the changes proceed. So please do participate in this process which is the final opportunity to share your views on the subject.
Councillor Peter Hogarth MBE said;
I am pleased that after all the hard work by myself, my ward colleagues Cllr Wazma Qais and Cllr Michael Gough, together with residents, that progress to reduce the speed of traffic in the area is to be welcomed.
Implementation is expected to be early 2024, subject to the outcome of the consultation process.
