Good news: The application has been rejected !
Your local Councillors, Karen Grinsell, Mark Parker and Annette Mackenzie are very pleased to report that the application for a massive new 5G telephone mast proposed on Solihull Road, close to Ashwell Drive has been rejected.
The proposal has been rejected on the basis that it is harmful to the character and appearance of the area and that the applicants have not explored suitable alternatives.
Cllr Karen Grinsell commented;
I wish to thank all the residents who took the time to email the Council’s Planning Department with their objections to the application. I am pleased that Council Officers have supported our view that the mast was not sympathetically designed and that it was not in keeping with the character and appearance of the area. Everyone understands the wish for better telephone coverage and the benefits 5G can bring, but a more appropriate location needs to be found. I still strongly support the need for mast companies to share masts and take into consideration the views of local residents. The imposing large cabinets on our pavements are causing obstruction and clutter on our streets. We will continue to be vigilant to any future applications coming forward.
