Dear Resident
I have lived in this ward, which I love, for over 10 years. I have two teenagers who have additional needs and in my day to day life I work hard to help change and improve special needs services. I see the difference on a daily basis that working together can make, and want to expand this to help and support more people.
I am proud to live in Meriden Ward. We are blessed with some wonderful green areas, schools and health services. However, I am also well aware of the challenges our ward faces, particularly as it grows from development and HS2. We need to ensure that any damage to the local environment is mitigated and repaired and that we maximise the opportunity prescribed by new government planning proposals to protect the area and the Green Belt.
We must ensure that we have village centres that support our residents and that we have a police service that focuses locally to reduce crime and anti-social behaviour. I am sure we have all seen many piles of nitrous oxide canisters across the area. We must tackle the use of these to reduce both the health and the environmental impact of them being used and discarded.
