After many years of campaigning by local Councillors, Solihull Council will be installing a zebra crossing outside Arden Hall on Water Orton Road. This has been hailed as a great step forward for the safety of pedestrians and motorists on a road which has become notorious for speeding traffic and collisions.
The crossing comes in addition to the £200,000 investment in Water Orton Road, which will see extra measures put in place to reduce speeding.
Castle Bromwich Councillor, Alan Feeney sits on the West Midlands Police & Crime panel. He has been one of many locals keen to see action taken. He says;
I warmly welcome this investment. Huge numbers of local residents have been feeding their thoughts to me on what they would like to see. While some ideas would be much too expensive, others have been very sensible and highways officials have taken that on board.
I extend my thanks to everyone who has helped my campaign to make these changes happen.
Speeding and dangerous driving risks everyone's lives, so I am delighted to finally see action on this.
Plans are expected to be drawn up by April 2023, with the works completed by the end of the year. Consultation details will be shared once they are ready.
