With the cancellation of the 89-bus service rural Berkswell was to lose its only public transport link.
Working with Andy Street, the West Midlands Mayor, Saqib Bhatti MP, Andrew Burrow and Diane Howell have secured an actual improvement in bus services not only for rural Berkswell parish but also for Balsall Common. The Coventry “On Demand” service has been extended for us and will take you to anywhere shown on the map. Not only can you get a bus straight to Coventry Hospital or the Showcase cinema and also into Kenilworth.
This is seen as a test for a whole new public transport approach whereby you can book a bus, just like a taxi, and it will take you cheaply to where you need to go. Book up to 7 days in advance and the bus will pick you up as near to your home as practical. It is also wheelchair friendly.
More details are published in the Bugle and you can register for the service on 0345 034 8670 or get the WM On Demand app from play store.
