Dear Resident
As a resident of Shirley, I am proud of this great town, and I am even prouder and privileged to represent Shirley East as your Councillor.
Shirley has been through many challenges and changes over the years, and we continually face new ones such as the cost-of-living crisis. I share your concerns and as your Councillor I want to continue to help you as your representative on Solihull Council.
I have always stood up for residents of Shirley East and campaigned on many issues such as garden grabbing in Lawnswood Avenue and more recently the high-profile battle over the future of the former Morrisons site. I am concerned issues like this impact resident’s quality of life and the future of Shirley and our town centre.
Whilst speaking to residents on doorsteps, they’ve told me their concerns about how difficult it is to get an appointment with their local doctor and how they’d like to see the return of more services at our local hospital. I share those concerns and there has been some success with improvements to telephone systems and the Minor Injuries Unit is to return to the Solihull hospital site in June.
There is still plenty to do and new challenges will arise, but as a constant strong advocate, I will always serve, protect, and make sure residents' voices are heard. I will continue to work hard to ensure Shirley East is a great place for residents to live, work and play.
My pledge to you as your Councillor and a Shirley resident; is to always stand up for you to the best of my ability.
