Dear resident
I have been privileged to represent residents of Shirley East ward as your Councillor since 2014. I have found this role extremely rewarding as well as very challenging at times.
I have lived in Shirley East ward for around 40 years and I am passionate about maintaining and improving all of Shirley. As a former West Midlands Police Officer, working in Solihull and Shirley, I fully understand the challenges that policing presents. I have also worked as a Family Support Officer in a Category ‘A’ Prison.
Many residents will know me from my work as a local childminder, supporting working families. Also from my time running a group for parents and carers in Shirley and assisting with the running of a childminders’ playgroup.
At present I am a member of several panels, Solihull Fostering Panel, SACRE (the Standard Advisory Council on Religious Education), and the Carers Partnership Board, as well as serving on several committees and local groups.
My children attended local schools as do my grandchildren now. From my working history and being a carer for my elderly parents, I fully understand the day to day pressures on families and on carers, both senior and young.
I am also an avid litter picker!
