A massive new telephone mast is being proposed at the junction of Slater Road and Widney Road. It will be 18 metres high, on the public highway, and be 7 metres higher than the nearby tree or buildings on the corner. Help us stop this!

Cllr Ian Courts commented; “This new mast is a monstrosity. New masts are supposed to be sympathetically designed, but it is difficult to imagine a location that would be more harmful to the character and appearance of this area. Everyone understands the wish for better telephone coverage and for the new 5G, but a more appropriate location needs to be looked for urgently.”
Our MP Saqib Bhatti said; “A new 18-metre phone mast is simply not appropriate for this location. It will tower over homes and will ruin the character of the area around Slater Road and Widney Road. Whilst the need for better phone coverage is essential, this must be done in keeping with the nature of the surrounding area. I’m keen to hear from local residents, so please sign this petition and voice your concerns.”
