Residents will be aware that on Sunday evening, a number of Travellers set up camp on Lyndon Playing Fields off Wagon Lane. Sections of the fencing were broken to enable vehicles and caravans to enter. A number of residents expressed concern about the situation and have asked what can and will be done to return Lyndon Playing Fields back to the community.
Solihull Council has been in touch with Birmingham City Council, who have responsibility for Lyndon Playing Fields, and the Travellers have now been served notice requiring them to leave by midday on Wednesday 5th August 2015. If the Travellers fail to adhere to this notice, the Council and the Police will take enforcement action to ensure they leave.
Lyndon Councillor Julie Hulland says; "I fully understand the concerns of local residents having visited the site on several occasions since Sunday and wish to reassure the community that everything possible is being done to tackle this nuisance. If residents see or experience any incidents of crime or anti-social behaviour related to the illegal occupation of the Playing Fields, they should report it to the Police immediately. In the meantime, I shall be keeping a close eye on the situation.”
