Cllr Ian Courts, Leader of SMBC is urging eligible business in Solihull to apply for financial support grants available to help them financially through the current Covid 19 pandemic.
Despite pumping £17 million into 1230 business already, a further 677 could still be entitled to access funds.
Commenting; Conservative Councillor Ian Courts said; “We believe a total of 1907 business in the borough of Solihull are entitled to one of the two grants on offer. As of 21st April, £17 million has been paid out to 1230 of those businesses, however there are still 677 businesses in the borough that have not yet applied. There are two grant funds available; the ‘Small Business Grants Fund’ and ‘Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund’ and I urge business owners to complete the simple application form as soon as possible.”
Under the Small Business Grants Fund, businesses that were in receipt of either Small Business Rates Relief or Rural Rates Relief are eligible for a grant payment of £10,000.
Under the Retail, Hospitality and Leisure Grant Fund, businesses that had a rateable value of less than £51,000 and are eligible for a discount under the business rates expanded retail discount scheme will be eligible for a grant of £10,000 for rateable values up to £15,000, or a grant of £25,000 for rateable values between £15,001 and £51,000.
If you have not yet applied, here is a link to the form: https://eservices.solihull.gov.uk/SMBCWebForms/?Form=COVID19-Emergency-Grant
Cllr Courts added; “We aim to pay these grants out as quickly as possible, but we need information from each business before we can make a payment. Once we receive a completed form, we have to carry out eligibility and pre-payment checks, which means that it can take up to 10 working days for us to pay the grant. It is vital that businesses who have not yet claimed make their application as soon as possible, so that we can get this essential funding out to them.”
