Your Conservative Action Team are delighted to tell you that at the Planning Committee meeting on Wednesday 24th April the application for a Kentucky Fried Chicken drive through restaurant on the Stratford Road, near Shirley Heath School was REJECTED.
This is a great victory for local residents and your Conservative Councillors would like to thank everyone who supported the campaign. Councillor Peter Doyle spoke to the Committee opposing the application, as did the Head Teacher of Shirley Heath School and the local Police Sergeant.
Julian Knight, the Parliamentary Candidate for Solihull, who has been campaigning alongside Councillors, said “This is a resounding victory for local residents. We did not want this KFC to go ahead because of the noise, smell, environmental impact and extra traffic that the drive-thru would have brought, and in addition the location right next to Shirley Heath Junior School was completely inappropriate.”
Cllr Peter Doyle added “ Even though the application has been refused by the Planning Committee, we must remain on guard as the Developer may well appeal against the council’s decision. The fight goes on.”
