Local MP Caroline Spelman is delighted that Jaguar Land Rover has started the recruitment process for 1,700 new jobs at their Solihull plant. Announced in September 2013, the jobs include skills-training through studying for an NVQ II qualification in Business Improvement Techniques.
The first phase of recruitment will open up 500 semi-skilled production operator jobs, as part of a £1.5 bn investment and wider plans for growth and expansion of the Solihull branch. Two further recruitment phases will take place later in the year and in early 2015.
Caroline comments, “With the West Midlands currently undergoing a manufacturing renaissance, I am delighted by the news that Jaguar Land Rover has started recruiting for 1,700 new jobs at their Solihull plant. In the last two years, 3,000 new jobs have been created at the JLR Solihull plant, and this is having a significant and positive impact on the wider local economy. I also applaud JLR for their commitment to skills-training alongside employment, through the NVQ II qualification in Business Improvement Techniques. JLR is running a recruitment fair at the Solihull Ramada on Friday 28th February.
