We are pleased to report the new A9 bus service is functioning well. A few teething issues between Solihull, Yardley and Birmingham have been sorted and the route is running efficiently.
Councillor Ken Hawkins said;
I am confident the service reliability issues, which were borne out of the short commissioning time have now been resolved.
The A9 service runs on the hour from Blythe Valley Park (BVP) from 7am to 5pm. The full timetable and route map can be accessed via the Transport for West Midlands (TfWM) website or bustimes.org. The service is provided by Stagecoach West Midlands and compliments the number 5 which reaches Solihull town centre via Widney Manor Station.
Ken continued;
We have excellent bus provision in the ward, linking Monkspath with Cheswick Green, Blythe Valley Park, Monkspath, Solihull town centre and Birmingham. Let’s try to use public transport more in 2023 to ensure its sustainability.
Keith Green in Lyndon Ward agrees, and says:
To be honest parts of the implementation of some of the new bus routes was disappointing. As a result, at the start of the service, some residents were left confused and stranded when some buses failed to turn up as scheduled/advertised. However, I want to reassure residents the service is now improving and that Transport for West Midlands have advised they will shortly be undertaking a review of all the changes that have recently taken place and following that they will be considering whether any further improvements are possible. You can be assured, Josh and I will be keeping a close eye on these discussions.
