New traffic calming measures on Warter Orton Road have been welcomed by residents, but have resulted in irresponsible motorists using the service roads to bypass them. Your Castle Bromwich Councillors highlighted this before the works began, and are campaigning for further work to take place.
Despite top highways officers being warned of the abuse of service roads by rat-running motorists seeking to overtake rush-hour traffic, no work was undertaken to prevent it.
Alan, Martin and Leslie had discussed placing barriers across the service roads at strategic intervals to block the problem. The response was that a lack of turning circle would make access difficult for bin lorries.
Your Councillors said; "The problem is becoming unbearable for local residents, so we are calling on them to back our petition to the Highways department to undertake further works aimed at ending the possibility of rat-running motorists. We have seen collisions and near-misses because of dangerous drivers, and we want the issue solved."
