Thanks to residents’ support, local Conservatives here in Solihull have already helped secure the return of the local Minor Injuries Unit to Solihull Hospital.
The Minor Injuries Unit which is scheduled to reopen by June 2023, followed by new operating theatres, should help secure the long term future of our local hospital. The reopening of the Unit will also go a long way in helping alleviate the pressure on our local GPs, the West Midlands Ambulance Service and on residents having to travel miles to seek medical attention.
However local Conservative Campaigner for the Lyndon Ward Keith Green says:
While it’s great news that the Minor Injuries Unit is reopening, as soon as it has reopened, I will be looking for the reinstatement of the Accident and Emergency department too. It’s madness that a town of our size, with a population of over 200,000 (and still increasing), that we historically even lost our own A&E department in the first instance. I am passionate about getting services at our local hospital fully restored. This is the driving motivation behind my decision to stand for election to Solihull Metropolitan Borough Council on May 4th.
This is a campaign that has to be fought locally. Service configuration is a matter for local NHS Trusts in conjunction with clinicians, patients and other stake holders.
Keith Green added:
The strength of feeling on this issue is very strong and everyone I speak with is adamant, that in addition to the Minor Injuries Unit, we also need the A&E department reopened too, and as soon as possible.
